A Little More Wickery Glen Testing
After getting into a few more game weeks I'm pleased to say that Wickery Glen continues to work well. Granted it has not been so long that generations have come and gone, but it's looking like Wickery is working as well as Dragon Valley. Of course over time saving and loading will slow down. That's inevitable, though regular town resets and save cleaning can certainly help with that. The true game killers were the lag and the freezing, and that appears to be fixed. So the only thing that might be a drawback for some players is that Wickery Glen doesn't come with any households so you have to populate it yourself. Personally I love filling the town with my own characters, but not everyone wants to get that involved and prefers to just jump in and play. So what is a plus for me might be a drawback for others.
Now for the more entertaining aspects of the test. I'll start off with this screenie of Granny Sarah taking a nap in the graveyard. Uh, Granny, why take a nap there of all places? You'll be resting in their permanently soon enough.

Now for what else is going on in this salvaged game. As the days were going by I was thinking how amusing it would be to have Neldor and Godonir observing the behavior of their human counterparts. Godonir would likely be puzzled by the way life is turning out for Cody.
Godonir: "You mean his life is so drastically different just because he's been...nice?"
Yes, Godonir, he's nice. And responsible. Not having that Evil trait that you're so proud of goes a long way. As for Neldor;
Neldor: "No way That's not me! That is NOT me! Yes, he looks like me except for the ears, but I have never ever ever been that stupid!"
I think James was a little spoiled when he was growing up, Neldor. That can make a big difference.
Here we go. The creepy pale skeletal vampire lady lost interest in James pretty quick, but James didn't care because he ended up getting cozy with Sarah Sanderson aka the Town Bike. He lost his woohoo virginity to her in the grocery store LLAMA booth (really classy, James). For a brief period of time James' mood was Elated. He was always walking around with a happy face in his thought bubble. He was living "the good life". He's young, he's good looking, and he's having wild woohoos with the Town Bike in all sorts of kinky places.
And then....James discovered that Town Bike's aren't faithful (What's the matter, James? Did you think those LLAMA booths were just yours and Sarah's "special places"?). So his mood dropped to angry and he walked around with the Betrayed moodlet. Hey, James, you know who would never ever have cheated on you? I'll give you three guesses. As for Town Bikes, there is a reason that they're called Town Bikes.
Things got worse when a vampire named "Kazimir the Conqueror" from the Moonlight Falls townie pack started fooling around with the Town Bike. Although he himself is also involved with Sarah's older sister Winnie, Kazimer didn't like some young whipper snapper coming around the Town Bike, so Kazimir beat James up. The beating was so bad that James had to be checked into the hospital.
At this point he has a group of negative moodlets so now his mood level is Miserable. I can't remember ever seeing a sim with their mood so low that they are miserable. You've really screwed up, James. If Sims have past life memories, I suggest you hang on to these so that in your next incarnation you have enough sense to know that wild oats aren't worth passing up the chance to live your life with a truly good woman.
So while James was messing up his life and making himself miserable, here is what was going on at Leap of Faith Farm; Gloria is about to have a green house built and will then plant a brand new garden, so there aren't quite as many chores to be done at this time, so this was a perfect time for Cody to enroll at the local university. Over the past months while working for Gloria, Cody developed an interest in astronomy and science. Seeing what a great mind her handyman has, Gloria was the one who encouraged him to take the aptitude test, which he nailed and ended up qualifying for a full scholarship.
Granny Sarah: "You mean there is a brain inside that gorgeous brawn?"
Yes, Granny. Cody does not just have muscles. He's also very smart (and seems to know that wild oats are vastly overrated).

The game took an interesting turn early one morning while everyone at the farm was still asleep. A burglar came onto the property and attempted to break into the main house. Having a werewolf's sense of smell and hearing (not to mention having the Brave trait), Cody immediately awakened, came down from his barn loft apartment, rushed to the main house and proceeded to give the intruder a beating. At that point it was very easy for the police to take the burglar away.
Gloria, still in her nightgown, came out on the porch to see what was going on. Cody, in his pajama bottoms, asked her is she was all right and said he was sure the burglar didn't take anything. Their thought bubbles made it look like they were talking about the burglary. Or at least Cody was. Gloria seemed a bit mesmerized by the eye candy.
Cody: "You okay? I know it was jarring, but the burglar never made it into the house."

Gloria: "Hmm? Burglar? What burglar? Oh, that burglar. Yes, I'm fine." *shy* "I'm glad you were here."

Then Cody surprised her (and me) by choosing the Heat of the Moment Kiss option. Gloria didn't mind. She didn't mind at all. With seconds they shot up from Romantic Interest to Boyfriend/Girlfriend.
Cody's mood guage is far from Miserable. He gained another positive moodlet when he passed his midterm exams with flying colors.
Gloria: "I knew you could do it."

When he's done earning his degree he's going to pursue a career in astronomy (thanks to the "hide the big tower from Oasis Landing in the basement of a shell building" trick). So this werewolf who was assumed to be a thug has really steered his life in a great direction. He'll likely end up putting a ring on Gloria's finger at some point which will lead from him moving out of the barn loft apartment and into the main house.

As for Gloria, James doesn't appear in her thought bubbles anymore. She doesn't really think about him at all.

Well, James, you will get another chance. To sort of quote Dagoth Ur when he defeats the player in battle "Farewell, sweet James. Better luck in your next incarnation".

What is it with James? Did he eat too much soy?
There's definitely chemistry between Cody and Gloria. It's great because he wants to make something out of himself.
What is the "hide the big tower from Oasis Landing in the basement of a shell building?" Is that to make an observatory?

Yes, that's what the creator of Winchester did so I copied the idea in my Wickery Glen town. So now it has one but the huge tower isn't visible. I have mine hidden in a basement below the Mystery & Magick Medieval Science Centres .
