Rebuilding Oblivion
Jul. 29th, 2024 05:41 pmThere will be a short break in the Elder Sims updates since I have been busy for the past three weeks with setting up Oblivion to run on Windows 10. The process proved to be far more difficult than I expected. The issues started with some bugs and glitches (such as raining within interiors) to frequent crashes near certain world locations and then finally the game wouldn't run at all. This led to my having no choice but to unload all mods, including official DLCs, and putting the game back together bit by bit. The upside is that I was able to install the newest versions of some of the mods I use without worrying about whether or not they would damage my saves. With having to rebuild the game it was a given that my saves were trashed so no need to worry about damaging them further.
At this point I believe everything is done. Hopefully I didn't just jinx it. The only way I can be sure is to take my time and have my tester characters carefully explore the world. At times the game crashes when I go into a loading screen, but I think that sort of thing is going to happen no matter how good the set up, especially if one has been playing a while and has done a good bit of traveling around the map.( Read more... )
