To sum it up; it worked. Now I know for a fact that the homeworld university set-up works as it should.

The unexpected story of Granny Sarah lusting over the Big Bad Wolf continues. This is one of the funniest stories I've ever seen evolve in a game. It was another day of Gloria having a full day of classes at the university so it was Cody's job to harvest the produce from the garden and get it to the grocery store. Once that chore was done he headed over the gym. He has the Athletic trait so he often wants to work out.

He was in the process of pumping iron when she entered the gym. Read more... )

Just one more Moonlight Falls related entry before I load up my Pelagiad save and have life proceed there (mental note: reset the town. It needs it).

This time in Moonlight Falls. At least this time I only lost two game days of progress since I had just made a fresh save in case I decided I didn't like the turn the story just took and wanted to backtrack. More on that later.

I did a search and got quite a few results regarding the "unexpected error", with the most helpful result being this post on Reddit: The Most Reliable Guide to Resolving Your Error Code 12 Woes. The post gives some helpful tips regarding handling memory issues. Some things I was already doing, like always using Save As instead of Save and using the save cleaner. Other things, like resetting the town, was not being done as often as I should. Saving is also best done in Map View rather than live view. I hadn't really thought about that before but it makes sense that Map View requires less resources than life view.

Finally, I just need to save more often, even it means using a timer to make sure I don't allow hours to go by without saving.

I'll add a cut here since I can see that this might be lengthy: Read more... )

Sick of seeing my sims wander around in their athletic outfits instead of their carefully chosen everyday outfits, I did another search to see if any modders addressed this and found this mod: Dresscode.

I tried it out in my Moonlight Falls game, placing one of the dresscode signs on every community lot, then activated the sign in live mod and selected the attire that I want my sims to wear on that lot. Then I just let the day progress.

After a while I panned the camera around and the only place the sims were wearing their athletic outfits was at the gym. Everywhere else they were in their everyday attire except for the bistro which is set to formal.

Granted I had hoped to find a mod that would make the sims change back to everyday outfits right after exercising and it can feel a little tedious to place a dresscode sign on every lot, but it does work. I hope to get into my Elder Scrolls themed world this afternoon and will start placing the signs in there as well.

So, this is one way to keep characters in medieval or Victorian themed worlds from spoiling everything by walking around in t-shirts and shorts or sweatpants.

The good news is that Sifina managed to put the current Story back together and has made multiple copies to protect it from being unraveled again. In fact I don't think any of the other residents are aware that anything unusual occurred. That's how good a Spinner she is.

Now the reason for the entry title. After everyone in the Gold Willow household had gone to sleep, I switched over to see how the world's favorite troublemaker was doing after his recent conquest of Merriweather Golden. At that time I did this, Godonir had left Merriweather's house, returned to his cabin outside of town and went up to his room (one of the resident she-wolves was asleep in her room while the other was out prowling around).

So I find Godonir in his room appearing to be staring out his window. And....

This game can really spooky when it comes to making custom sims behave the way our head-space characters do.

For being a non-fanfic game, the world of Moonlight Falls does seem to be weaving an interesting story. So, last night Gloria's dish-washer crapped out (the world is sort of Victorian-Steam Punk theme to allow for some technology and different clothing styles). Her trusty handyman immediately got to work with fixing it while Gloria mopped up the water.

Thank you darth_eldritch for directing me to the Faery's Gifts blog with all of her wonderful Skryim conversions. I grabbed the Telvanni textures and redid the Grouch House with them. The place is still like a box, which can't really be helped, but now looks more like it was grown, or partially grown rather than built.

Aeronwen's great grandparents Glorawen and Andravan who came to Morrowind in the Second Era. I REALLY like how they turned out.

Once the spring season finally rolls around in Vvardenfell I plan to start taking wedding themed pose screens for Aeronwen's journal. I have been looking at community lots to use for the settings and have chosen to go with this one: Romantic Little Church.

This lot fits the Dragon Valley world (and Moonlight Falls) perfectly. It's also very versatile. Ceremony poses can be set up either inside the chapel or out in the garden.

I made a few changes to it, mainly removing some of the shrubs in the garden and replaced them with pink rose bushes. I also removed the grim reaper statue and replaced it with the "Alexa Full of Hair" statue. This statue could represent any Daedric Prince or Divine who tends to appear in a female form.

I feel a little guilty for not having made a post in the [personal profile] aeronwen blog, but I got caught back up in the other save a started a while back featuring Gloria and her friends as children. The game became so interesting that I went even further back in time and started a game with all of the parents as young adults without children so I got to play through the birth's of Gloria, James, Allison, and Robin. For a while everyone lived in the Great Bear world, but when loading the save began taking quite a long time I used NRaas Porter to pack up all my custom households (including the newly created grandparents) and moved everyone to Moonlight Falls (now with the cobblestone road from Dragon Valley and with modern buildings replaced with Victorian styled ones).

The Winters family home in Moonlight Falls:

Finally! Finally a way to not have medieval, fantasy, and Victorian themed worlds marred by having modern day looking roads: Medieval Road Default Replacements

Unfortunately only one type of road can be used at a time, but hey, it's something. Moonlight Falls looks amazing with the cobblestone roads from Dragon Valley, and the dirt road is perfect for Appaloosa Plains.

It was so discouraging to take the time to change the clothes on the townies to give them attire to suit the desired time period, swap out cars for the automobiles that are replaced by mule drawn carts, remove modern looking buildings and replace them with more time period appropriate ones, remove billboards and street signs....and still have those modern looking streets with brightly painted white and yellow lines.

Again, only one replacement can be used at a time, so if, for example, one wants dirt roads for their old west town and cobblestone for Victorian, one will either have to swap out files for whichever save is being played, or put off playing one town until your done with the other. Whatever the case, at least there is an option now to make worlds look more like the time period that the player is shooting for.

This afternoon I found another medieval career mod for the Sims 3: Dungeons & Dragons Adventurer Career

One of the branches has a "ranger" career line, so the next time I'm in the game I'll remove the "Hunter" career mod and replace it with the D&D one. This is exactly what I wanted for my Elder Scrolls characters.

I have almost all of Lost Pantheon's Fantasy/Medieval career mods installed and figured out how to set up NRaas Story Progression to only allow inactives to be placed in those jobs. This way I don't end up with inactive sims running around my Elder Scrolls themed worlds in modern day career clothing.

In my [personal profile] aeronwen journal Aeronwen and Neldor continue to slowly work their way through the White Wolf of Lokken Mountain questline. One they're done with that I'll need to think about how much time I want to allow to pass before they would start thinking of returning to Vvardenfell. From a story standpoint I want them to remain on Lokken until enough time has passed for Caius Cosades to return to Cyrodiil and the blight/Dagoth Ur issue to be dealt with by another character. At that point in the Morrowind main quest I don't think they would have to worry about being forced into being spies for the Blades.

Perhaps around that time their siblings come to Lokken looking for them. *files this idea away with the other plot bunnies*

While I was happy with the version of Lokken I made in the Great Bear world, I reminded myself that Lokken is an island so before actually starting to play in Great Bear/Lokken and starting that part of the fanfic, I took one more look around to see if I could find a good sized rural/forest covered world that was also surrounded by water at least on one side. My search came to an end when I found Greymont Bay.

Over the past week I set up some additional sets for upcoming installments for the [personal profile] aeronwen story blog. After much deliberation I decided to have the side quests that take place in the city of Vivec play out in the town of Ebonheart. As mentioned before, I'm not even going to attempt to build Vivec. While I have an excellent gaming computer, I think such a city would really bog down whatever world I placed Vivec in.

That being said, there are some, shall I say garishly colored palace and castle mods out there that I considered using to represent the city of Vivec, but the fact is that Aeronwen doesn't go to those big settlements very often, and since I have already done some lore bending and breaking to deal with the issue of Vvardenfell's wildlife, I figured I may as well simplify things by changing the location of some of Morrowind's quests.
