Aeronwen and Neldor just had an interesting day to say the least. After a few basic chores around their home they decided to take Tinsel and Caspar to the dog park. There was a "Dog Social Hour" event going on, and they had always been too busy to attend one of those during the planting season, so why not? Neldor and Caspar headed out first. Aeronwen and Tinsel caught up with them at the park following a stop at the consignment shop where Aeronwen dropped off a few bottles of Rosewood Nectar to sell.

When setting up the Harvest End party I was disappointed to discover that I couldn't invite near as many guests as I would have liked so I had to cut it down to the people who are closest to Neldor and Aeronwen. So as much I hated to, I left Neloth and Gilvoth off the guest list because I couldn't add them without removing two people who are important to the hosts. Before I get into more detail, here is a screenie of a pair of adorable Jackalope Plushies that I found when looking for horseshoe courts.

After taking a look at most of the characters' work schedules I decided to have Neldor and Aeronwen host their party on a Saturday afternoon. While checking their contacts I noticed that there was one person whom neither of them have met and was therefore not on their list of people they could invite: Gilvoth.

Neldor knows more people than Aeronwen so he is the one who will be sending out the invitations. This also meant that he had the thankless task of tracking down Gilvoth and talking to him just long enough to get him in his relationship panel. Sure I could use the "Know everyone" mailbox cheat, but that would also place service sims into the relationship panel and make the list of contacts bigger than it needs to be.

Neldor, I am so sorry that I did this to you. Perhaps things would have gone better if I had sent Aeronwen, but as mentioned, you know more people.

By using the map tags, Neldor rode out to where Gilvoth was, dismounted and introduced himself and...it was all downhill from there. Gilvoth was nothing but a snide, sarcastic bastard.

This time Aeronwen and Neldor got to see Neloth's antics for themselves instead of just hearing about it during Nerst's evening broadcast. Around mid-afternoon they decided to go to the festival grounds which are now decorated for Tales & Tallows. While they were chatting with Constance, who seemed very happy to see them and tell them about the stray cat that she recently adopted, Neloth showed up and stomped across the grounds toward Tureynul.Read more... )

As we all know, we can't have too many pretties for our games, and while browsing the web looking for other horse mane and tail mods I came across Lakeside Saddlery which had some goodies that I had to grab.

New Ascadia is quite colorful at the moment. The leaves, which have turned to orange and yellow, are falling from the trees, the gardens are now dormant, and Rosewood has been decorated for the spooky season: Read more... )

After looking for mods that could place Yanna's daughter in a better home and finding none, I decided to use the same trick with the NRaas Master Controller that I used to take the kitten Maggie from Erandre's home and giving her to Thorinor and Sarasvati.

With the first day of the autumn season comes a kidnapping. Or perhaps I should say, a puppy-napping. And unfortunately I don't mean a puppy taking a nap. But first a bit of news.

The last day of summer was a rainy one in New Ascadia, so everyone at Rosewood remained indoors. This didn't stop activity from happening elsewhere in the valley, giving Nerst much to report.

With the first week of the new AP game done, I jumped into New Ascadia to see how the MorrowSims were doing. Clever Prank had another show at Fiddler's Green, but this time it was in the evening. They were supposed to start at 8PM but for some reason it took a while for Brolmir to get there, so they didn't get started until 8:45 and had to play for the next two hours.

Poor Neldor had the Sleepy moodlet over his head the entire time. I think Acacia, who was standing near the stage, was concerned that her brother in-law would go to sleep and end up falling on his face.

I feel so stupid for not noticing that there is a way to block pregnancies in the NRaas Store Progression settings. The path is NRaas - Story Progression - Sim. About midway down the list are the settings that pertain to pregnancy. It's a simple matter to set Allow Pregnancy to Disallow for females and to set Pregnancy, Allow Participation to Disallow for males. The thing is I remember seeing those settings when I was making changes to keep unfit characters from adopting pets. It just didn't enter my mind to make some changes to keep unfit sims from having children. It should have, but it didn't.

Anyway, I went into map view so I could see everyone's tags, then edited the settings for all of the unmarried Sims. Now the next time the game decides it's time to bring in another baby, it will have to choose one of the married couples. I wish I had done this before Yanna became pregnant, but what's done is done. I changed Yanna's settings so she won't have any more children.

On another note, here is a screenie of Sifina that I took when I saw her with her zebra at the horse training grounds: Read more... )

During the night Nerst sent out this broadcast:

"Engaer is now a father. Yanna has given birth to a baby girl named Rillisa."

Y'ffre and Azura help that little girl. Her mother is 100% unfit. Engaer might be a somewhat better parent, but he doesn't strike me as being as ready for the role as Aryc and the other married mers. When I moved the camera over to Yanna and Constance's home I saw little Rillisa lying on the ground outside the front door. Engaer was at work (not that he lives there. He still lives with Neloth), Constance was at school, and Yanna was...playing a guitar in the park.

At the end of the day Engaer was at Stonehenge Coffee chatting with someone on his Dwemer-made laptop and Yanna was at the tavern where she was still angry about Tureynul being unfaithful. Constance came home from school and brought Rillisa inside the house. She changed the baby's diaper, gave her a bottle, and cuddled Rillisa for a bit before placing the baby into the crib. Constance then did her homework before going to bed.

Vemyn and Therana aren't often seen around the valley, but when they are they make a scene. Earlier this particular morning they lost control of the local grocery store due to a pair of concerned citizens buying the controlling shares of the business.

A chipmunk reporter managed to capture this scene at the horse training grounds on memory crystal:

I haven't been online much due to our router repeatedly dropping my computer from the network connection. Often I've only been able to get online for about forty seconds before being dropped. It's working well now. Hopefully that will continue.

Anyway, there's not much to report from New Ascadia. It's nearly autumn. Once the garden is completely dormant for the autumn and winter seasons Aeronwen and her horse will go back to competing at the equestrian center a few afternoons a week.

The only new bit of news that came over the airwaves was this:

Bad boys get all the loving...as Master Neloth has recently proven with a little help from Nona Greenvale. Nona was seen swooning over Master Neloth's latest escapades. "Mmmm. He is so bad, it's good."

So Yanna is still hung up over Tureynul and now Nona is swooning over Neloth. Some of these Bosmer ladies aren't very bright when it comes to males.

Speaking of males, submitted for Sarasvati's approval: Read more... )

Thank you, [personal profile] pasque for pointing me to the cowboy hat accessory and the hat sliders. Gloria at last has the finishing touch that she wanted for her western outfit. Her normal hair clipped through the hat even when I made it (the hat that is) as large as possible, so I went down the list of hairs at the Retexture Catalogue and downloaded some hairs that were long, full, but not overly fluffy on top and I managed to find some that would work as hat-hair.

This renovation took a while, but it was worth it. I'm very happy with the results. The layout of the house is the same, but it's been decorated almost entirely with items from the Once Upon a Cottage and Fairie Folk packs. I was a little worry that my sims would get upset because some items, such as those used in the kitchen, are less expensive than the ones I had originally placed there, but so far both Aeronwen and Neldor seem thrilled with the changes.

Off topic: as they were walking through the new version of their home they were both given the Eternally Faithful moodlet.

Now on with the screens: Read more... )

It's down to ten days until autumn in New Ascadia and I'm looking forward to seeing what else Story Progression does with the cast of characters. The Jackle-Thorn's household funds went down to zero, and then further down to being $28 in debt and then suddenly began to build back up again. It looks like the game simply chose them to do a short "debt story" like it's done with the other households and has no way of knowing that Thorinor and Sarasvati are not frivolous spenders. In fact I looked in their inventories and neither of them have done things like purchase expensive vehicles. Whatever the case, their funds are inexplicably increasing, slowly working back up to where they were. I'll keep looking over the caste list for the household and see if I can block that household from being pulled into another debt story.

As usual we have Nerst's evening report, but first a screenshot.: Read more... )

I just finished playing through a busy day in New Ascadia. After Aeronwen and Neldor finished tending to their slowly diminishing garden (autumn is approaching) the Wolf-Mutt now turned Samoyed showed up outside the fence. After spending more time with him (and reaching Best Friends Forever level without even trying), they have adopted him. He has been given the name Caspar; not for the Friendly Ghost although I can understand why many would think that. He is named for Caspar of the Three Wise Men, so like the other pets he has a Christmas themed name.

As soon as Caspar was adopted he immediately trotted through the gate and began making friends with the other pets. I was a little surprised to see that he and Holly were already friends until I remembered that for quite a few nights when they were both strays they each slept out in the little stray shelter area outside the fence. Occasionally they would sniff noses and play together, so that explains why they were already friends.

Here is a screenie of Tinsel and Caspar goofing around in the yard while Ivy sleeps and dreams of butterflies nearby: Read more... )

In the middle of the night, when everyone except the cats was sleeping, the unicorn returned...and once again got stuck on the fence. Instead of doing a reset I went into Build mode and temporarily took down the fence, went into live mode so the unicorn could move away, then put the fence back up.

The unicorn went and drank from the pond, tasted the salt-lick, then played with one of the horse balls. Holly and Ivy, the only ones who were awake, both went out and sniffed noses with the unicorn before going back into the house like the visitor was no big deal.
