Everyone knows about Nerst, the rat of far above average intelligence who broadcasts everyone's dirty laundry all over the Ascadian Isles, but here we have a rare look at the tattle-tale rodent near his Mobile Radio Station which is set up in the corner of the Rosewood barn. Apparently he is about to conduct an interview with Oliver the donkey. I shudder to think of what sort of things they'll be talking about.

...because every herdless horse needs a mini-donkey paddock pal. Mule and Donkey bases and other resources can be found at: Cheshire Farms.
Gloria felt that her horse Faith needed a paddock pal so she adopted Alisha.

This is a repost of an entry I made the other day. The reason for the repost is to change the screenshots. After making the original entry I went into the Advanced mode for customizing the horse colors and experimented with adding and arranging layers and playing around with the different pinto patterns and face marking. The end result was the mini-donkey having a unique look.

I spent a good bit of time trying to turn a zebra into a donkey, but without a slider to adjust the animal's size it just didn't work, and I knew that a horse sized donkey would bug me, so I went with creating a mule and am pleased with the results.

At the moment I haven't thought of an official name for her, so for now she's just "Jenny Mule". Her primary purpose is to be a barnyard friend and companion for Gloria's horse. However, since I recently allowed Gloria to buy a mule cart and the mule on it is similar in color I can just roleplay in my mind that Jenny pulls the cart when Gloria needs to drive her garden's produce into town.

Jenny's traits are Genius, Brave, and Friendly because mules and the donkeys they are bred from really aren't as stubborn as is commonly believed. They aren't so much as stubborn as they are very smart. Smarter than horses in fact, and tend to be better at sensing danger and will not allow themselves to be prodded into situations where they might be harmed.

She has just been added to the household so nothing has really happened with her yet, but I'm sure she'll fit right in once she and the other animals have had a chance to get acquainted with each other.

When I downloaded the EQHD Conformation Mod I also checked out the other resources including those for Eyelashes and Eye Overlays. Both make the Sims 3 horses look amazing, but I was, and still am, reluctant to use them because they go in the unicorn's beard and horn slots. This means that for a regular horse to use them, that horse has to be turned into a unicorn with the NRaas Master Controller.

Unlike in Sims 4, the differences between the horses and unicorns are not just aesthetic. There are behavioral differences and I'm not keen on my horses gaining the ability to start fires. However, out of curiosity I downloaded and installed these mods just to see how much they changed the appearance of my horses (making sure not to overwrite my saves in the process).

As soon as the two large dogs that were sleeping in the shelter area went on their way, I got rid of the large houses and replaced them with small houses from the 3 New Pet Houses mod along with a scratching post and a food dispenser. Granted it's only been one game day,but the changes seemed to do the trick. At least as far as the large dogs are concerned. After the household went to bed a black and white elder cat along with a cat-sized brown and white elder dog showed up and made themselves comfortable in the houses.

It seems like all the strays I see are elderly pets, so I used this command to get a list:

NRaas - Master Controller - Sim - Status - Personal - Type of Pet Pool - Stray Cats/Stray Dogs

All of the cats are elders. With the dogs, all but the big gray wolf looking dog are also elders. Poor little ones are having a tough old age.

(They're made of PIXELS!) Yeah, I know.

I'm still puzzling over why placing a Stray Cat Gnome on the property caused stray dogs to show up. Throughout the day there was no sign of any stray animals, but after the sun went down two dogs came and made themselves comfortable in the shelter. The big white wolf looking dog has been there for three nights in a row. The red one showed up for the first time last night.

It turned out that the little area in the corner of the property that I set up for strays worked too well. I soon had four cats and two dogs hanging around the lot. I was surprised by the dogs since I had only set up a Feline Stray Gnome. The dogs turned out to be quite a problem. They began digging holes and trying to chew up the lawn furniture. I had to use Master Controller to use Reset on them which sent them to some other part of the map. I then immediately made some changes, bringing a section of the fence in a few tiles from the outer edge, putting the gate back up (and locking it), and then set up the food dish and pet shelters on the outside of the fence.

As I mentioned on the forum, there is indeed a way to take a Sim from one household and add it to another, and this command made it possible to remove the little kitten Maggie from an unfit home and place her with a family who will love her and spoil her silly.

I made the Jackle-Thorn family the active household, made Thorinor the active Sim, clicked on Maggie by way of her map tag, then selected:

NRaas - Master Controller - Intermediate - Add Sim.

At that moment she became a part of Thorinor and Sarasvati's family. Here are some screens of her at her new home.

I've found computer character AI interesting ever since I first opened the Neverwinter Nights construction set and began placing NPCs and adjusting their attached scripts to alter their behavior. That interest continues with the Sims, especially after finding that even after assigning traits you still can't entirely predict a Sim's behavior. In this entry I'm primarily speaking of how the Sims I've created take care of the pets they have been given.

Every Sim who has has animals included in their household has been given the Animal Lover trait to hopefully make them more likely to care for and interact with their pets. The exceptions has been when they only have one type of pet; one who only has cats has the Cat Person trait, if there are only dogs the Dog Person trait, etc. What I have discovered is that some Sims are like some real life people I've met; they love animals (or at least claim to) but they are horrible pet owners and should never be permitted to be responsible for any living thing.

Poor Tinsel came into contact with some fleas. Neldor, being the good pet parent that he is, immediately gave the dog a flea bath.

I had expected there to be collision issues due to the shower's sliding glass door, which is the reason I put a plain tub inside the supply shed. Tinsel however jumped easily into house's tub. The fleas must have really been bothering him because Neldor had no problems getting Tinsel to cooperate with the bath.
