Finally! Finally a way to not have medieval, fantasy, and Victorian themed worlds marred by having modern day looking roads: Medieval Road Default Replacements

Unfortunately only one type of road can be used at a time, but hey, it's something. Moonlight Falls looks amazing with the cobblestone roads from Dragon Valley, and the dirt road is perfect for Appaloosa Plains.

It was so discouraging to take the time to change the clothes on the townies to give them attire to suit the desired time period, swap out cars for the automobiles that are replaced by mule drawn carts, remove modern looking buildings and replace them with more time period appropriate ones, remove billboards and street signs....and still have those modern looking streets with brightly painted white and yellow lines.

Again, only one replacement can be used at a time, so if, for example, one wants dirt roads for their old west town and cobblestone for Victorian, one will either have to swap out files for whichever save is being played, or put off playing one town until your done with the other. Whatever the case, at least there is an option now to make worlds look more like the time period that the player is shooting for.

...because every herdless horse needs a mini-donkey paddock pal. Mule and Donkey bases and other resources can be found at: Cheshire Farms.
Gloria felt that her horse Faith needed a paddock pal so she adopted Alisha.

This is a repost of an entry I made the other day. The reason for the repost is to change the screenshots. After making the original entry I went into the Advanced mode for customizing the horse colors and experimented with adding and arranging layers and playing around with the different pinto patterns and face marking. The end result was the mini-donkey having a unique look.

Even with the bed's headboard hidden in the walls with the moveObjects cheat, it was still just too tight in the bedroom and resulted in a lot of pathing issues. Since Gloria is single and only sleeps on one side of the bed anyway I put the double-bed into the family inventory and replaced it with a single bed. The room now seems a little bigger and there is more room to move around. Traffic jams will still happen, but this should lessen them some.

It's nice when an experiment turns out the way you hope it will. I used the shell of the Elm 26` Trailer and decorated the interior to be close to the 'Trailerable' tiny-home cabin. Since I knew I would want to use it in other worlds and with other characters if it turned out well, I worked on it in a new game, saved it to the library, then did an "Evict/Bulldoze Lot/Put in New Trailer/Move Household Back In.

Incidentally, it's so nice to not have to start a new game when you decide to change mods. And another nice thing about the Sims is that you know whether or not your characters approve of something. Gloria did a lot of cheering and had a happy face in her thought bubble as she explored the new trailer.

Now for the screens.Read more... )

Both my Moonlight Falls (Gloria) and my Dragon Valley (Aeronwen) games just hit the autumn season and I had a blast decorating both homes with items from the Halloween packs, but since we are so close to the Halloween season in real life I decided to slow down my games a bit and enjoy the game's spooky season during real life's spooky season.

In the meantime I decided to go back into Appaloosa Plains, which admittedly seems to be one of the game's most stable worlds besides Dragon Valley. I was especially inclined to play through this story again after finding some trailer/caravan mods. For this game the story setup is similar to my previous Appaloosa Plains game with some additional characters and details.

After looking through the available trailer type houses I decided to go with the Elm 26` Trailer. Not only did it not use a bunch of custom content that I may or may not be able to track down, it was the easiest one for my Sim to live in along with her pets. Plus I just like the look of it.

My in-game screenshots aren't going to look quite the same as the ones on Mod the Sims because as usual I did some customizing.Read more... )

A group of my favorite mods for Oblivion were the posing mods because they allowed me to create screenshot/story illustrations for my character blogs. Although I'm not writing anything about the MorrowSims, I decided to try out some of the Sims 3 Pose mods, especially after I found some horse-related ones:

Love and Horses
Family Horse Riding
Both of which require the base mod: Pose Player

I'll be looking at the other pose mods, but I decided to start with the horse ones. Granted the poses in the Family Horse Riding mod isn't near as great as it would be if Sims 3 children could actually ride, but it's the next best thing.

Mini-rant: Why can't the Sims 3 children ride horses? Many people who ride in real life started when they were children, and very young children at that! If a modder can figure out a way to make children look like they are on a horse, then surely the game developers could have allowed them to truly ride.

Rant over. Now for a few screenshots: Read more... )

When I downloaded the EQHD Conformation Mod I also checked out the other resources including those for Eyelashes and Eye Overlays. Both make the Sims 3 horses look amazing, but I was, and still am, reluctant to use them because they go in the unicorn's beard and horn slots. This means that for a regular horse to use them, that horse has to be turned into a unicorn with the NRaas Master Controller.

Unlike in Sims 4, the differences between the horses and unicorns are not just aesthetic. There are behavioral differences and I'm not keen on my horses gaining the ability to start fires. However, out of curiosity I downloaded and installed these mods just to see how much they changed the appearance of my horses (making sure not to overwrite my saves in the process).

Cut for screenshots of pretty horse faces:Read more... )

This morning I decided to try the Arise, Watcher! The Sims Medieval Music for TS3 which adds medieval style music from the Sims Medieval game. At first I didn't think it was working because the game played the normal music when I started it up, but after a few minutes it switched over and started playing the medieval music whenever I went into map view and Build/Buy mods. The mod also adds a medieval station to the radios, though I don't know why anyone would want to listen to anything other than Nerst's gossip, I mean local news station.

Now the random screenies. Neldor and Aeronwen finished tending the garden a little earlier than normal due to the fact that it's now late in the summer season and some of their plants are reaching the end of their lifespan. There is just enough time to plant new ones and grow some more produce before the garden goes dormant for the winter. Having some extra free time meant that Aeronwen and Neldor were able to go out and visit different places around town and see their neighbors.

Last night I managed to find some mods that make Neldor look a little more like Elder Scrolls Neldor, starting with the hair and then adding some more sliders to help make his face appear more angular and elvish.Read more... )

It seems that no matter where Neldor goes, Thorinor follows. And with Thorinor comes his lovely wife and household.

The Sims 3 isn't bad right out of the box, but the modding community has come up with some mods that make it quite a bit better. This isn't a full list and I'll likely add more to this post in the future.Read more... )
