I was about to use the tag "Gloria" for when posting about my secondary game, but then realized that could end up being confusing since the name of Aeronwen's palomino is also Gloria, so I'll go with "Appaloosa Plains".
Anyway, Gloria has just reached the end of her first week in her new home. After getting settled into her camp on Sunday morning she had only around $80 to her name. Now on Saturday evening her earnings are up to $3,151. Not bad. She has earned that money by completing in show jumping competitions with her horse. She and Faith are good enough now to compete in the Advanced level, but at least for now Gloria is playing it safe and sticking to the Beginner category. So far they are undefeated and earn $500 for every win.

Gloria has also become noticed as an artist and has been hired by the city council to produce fifteen paintings to hang on the walls of City Hall. She'll no doubt get a big payment for that, but she won't receive the money until the work it done (not that that is unreasonable).
She has been careful to spend as little of her earnings as possible, using only a little of it on groceries plus some seeds for her garden. She has only planted basic crops, such as lettuce, tomatoes, apples, carrots, onions, and potatoes, but that should provide her with more than enough food for her meals. She can always sell the extra to the local grocer.

If she and Faith can keep up their winning streak, Gloria should have enough money to have a fence built around her property near the end of Week Two. Since her lot is large, fencing it in isn't exactly cheap. Looking at the fencing she wants in Build Mode, she needs to have at least $5000 saved to fence the whole lot. Actually I'll wait until she's up to $6000 since I don't want her to be broke after building the fence.
As for her social life, Gloria doesn't feel she needs one (love that Loner trait). That being said, she has met and made friends with the other three young adults I added to the world. She met Allison at the dog park and the two quickly got their relationship level up to "Best Friends" though I'm not sure Gloria feels that way. Allison is a bit of a eco freak who keeps going on and on about recycling and composting. Plus Allison seems to neglect the lovely cream colored poodle I added to her household.
She's met Robin, her across-the-road neighbor and they've hung out a bit at the Fiddler's Green tavern. I had to add that tavern. I used it to replace a garishly lit karaoke bar that looked out of place in what is supposed to be a small "modern Old West" town.

As for the neighbor, he's nice enough (they are also up to "Best Friends" in the relationship level) and lately he gets a pair of hearts in his thought bubble when they see each other, but he's striking Gloria as a bit of a damsel in distress. One of the first things I had her learn was the Handiness skill since I knew the cheap appliances in her kitchen-shed would eventually break and calling in a repairman can be expensive. It turns out she's been repairing plumbing and appliances at her neighbor's house more than she's been repairing her own. She doesn't mind, but it still seems like a role reversal when the man needs help maintaining his house.
He is also repeatedly late for work (more than once the game has tattled and announced that he hasn't bothered to go in). With Gloria having to work so hard toward earning enough so that she no longer has to sleep in a tent, it's hard for her to have a lot of respect for someone who neglects his responsibilities. So while the neighbor is great eye-candy and is a nice friend, Gloria doesn't feel inclined to have either of them step over the Friendship line.
[Technically none of the four Sims I added can go past friendship levels with anyone at this time since I still have them locked out of romance options. The reason is the game tends to try to pair Sims off way too fast and its' only been one week since they all moved there.]
Finally she met Joseph Running Wolf who lives down the road a short way from Gloria's lot. The met briefly at the Green Fiddler and they got to speak with each other again outside the grocery store. He seems nice, but tends to lean toward being angsty and is another eco fanatic. More than once Gloria has seen him sitting on the ground near the equestrian center "pondering the hollowness of life".

So while Gloria does like these people she doesn't feel inclined to be around any of them for long periods of time. In fact she has yet to invite anyone to her home, and not just because right now her home is nothing but a tent, a shed, and an outhouse.
I'm not about to push the character into getting married and having children if she doesn't want to (I already have a family situation in Aeronwen's world). If Gloria wants to spend her life as a hermit on her farm with her animals, that's perfectly fine, even if means the game is over when she passes away (hopefully at a ripe old age).
Now to see what Week Two will bring in Appaloosa Plains.
