crown_of_antlers: Glorawenn's horse (Gold Steed)
Both my Moonlight Falls (Gloria) and my Dragon Valley (Aeronwen) games just hit the autumn season and I had a blast decorating both homes with items from the Halloween packs, but since we are so close to the Halloween season in real life I decided to slow down my games a bit and enjoy the game's spooky season during real life's spooky season.

In the meantime I decided to go back into Appaloosa Plains, which admittedly seems to be one of the game's most stable worlds besides Dragon Valley. I was especially inclined to play through this story again after finding some trailer/caravan mods. For this game the story setup is similar to my previous Appaloosa Plains game with some additional characters and details.

After looking through the available trailer type houses I decided to go with the Elm 26` Trailer. Not only did it not use a bunch of custom content that I may or may not be able to track down, it was the easiest one for my Sim to live in along with her pets. Plus I just like the look of it.

My in-game screenshots aren't going to look quite the same as the ones on Mod the Sims because as usual I did some customizing.

For the basic story of the game; once again I added Gloria along with my custom inactives James, Robin, and Allison. I also added parents for all four sims. The four young adults are recently out of school and now taking their first steps toward making their way in the world. Robin and Allison still live with their parents but I adjusted their Story Progression settings to allow them to move out should they choose to. Robin's family lives in the really big house down the road from the festival grounds. Allison's family lives in a custom house that I placed in the lot that is normally occupied by the starter house with the sunflowers.

My idea for this world is that it's an "Old West Tourist Trap" which is why I have the world set up to allow tourists (I keep this setting turned off in Dragon Valley). The theater and the Equestrian Center put on Wild West shows which is why many of the residents can be seen wearing the western style apparel that comes with the Movie Stuff pack. The tourists love seeing the locals walking around looking like cowboys and old west settlers.

James has already moved out of his parents' home at the start of the game and lives in a cabin across the road from Gloria's lot. He immediately got a job as a horseman at the Equestrian Center. Allison works at the hospital/science lab, and Robin works at the theater.

Gloria is doing the humble beginnings again. Later on I can rebuild her house (I know the floor plan by heart), or I can do a temporary evict/swap out the trailer for the saved house. Story details: Gloria inherited the lot and the trailer from her grandparents. She also received a nice sum of money as a graduation gift. Her dream is to be a writer and illustrator (Lifetime Wise is Illustrious Author), but to earn a regular paycheck she performs in Wild West shows with her horse (a full palomino this time) at the Equestrian Center.

Wanting to be on her own, she has moved out of her parents' house (a large home next door to the Pelly household) and moved into her grandparents' trailer. I gave her a bike (with a basket) from the Pushin' Pedals pack. The bike is for when she wants to spend time at the library, go to a movie or goes shopping for groceries and doesn't want her horse to be standing outside for hours.

Gloria's mother Gwen is something of a snob and does not approve of her daughter's choices at all. She wanted Gloria to enroll in a prestigious university, get into a high paying corporate career and perhaps end up marrying a rich doctor. Gwen is quite frankly embarrassed that her daughter is now living in a trailer and is performing for tourists in the Equestrian Center's Wild West Show.

Gloria's father Arthur is much more supportive. While he knows she's taking a risk with her writing and painting, he knows that she's not a corporate type. And while he knows she's not likely on the road to get rich, she should be able to support herself and he's proud that she wants to be independent. In fact he used his own truck to help Gloria get the trailer into the right spot of the lot so that she's next to the supply shed.

Incidentally, I'm going with an earlier version of her household, which is one horse, one dog, and one cat. I may add kitten Sara later if I play this game long enough for Gloria's living arrangements to change. I like having both of my real life cats in the game, but this trailer is no place for a kitten who can't go up and down staircases.

Here is a screenie of James' home across the road. I believe he also inherited or was gifted with some money in order to buy the place. Either that or his parents gave him a loan.

Now some interior screens of James' cabin and Gloria's trailer. I use content from the following packs:

Happily Ever After
Country Livin'
The Sims Classic- Welcome Back to Three Lakes Set

Inside the trailer:

As I mentioned earlier, I'm giving the vanilla townies makeovers and dressing them in Movie Stuff clothing. I'm also redoing the horses so they have updated bodies. I started with Honey Darnell and Skedaddle.

I don't know how long I'll be playing this world and when we get closer to October I'll go back to Dragon Valley and Moonlight Falls, but for now I'm curious to see how adding the parents of my custom characters affects the town/story.

Edited to add: I just made another change to the trailer. While Gloria was walking her dog I noticed one of those wagon wheel benches on the neighbors porch and thought that they would work well on the trailer. So I turned on the moveObjects cheat, turned the benches to face the trailer and tucked them in close. I rather like the results. Yes, you can see the legs of the benches, but I pretend that those are the stabilizers that are usually set up after a trailer or motorhome has been parked in the chosen camping spot.
