To sum it up; it worked. Now I know for a fact that the homeworld university set-up works as it should.
Gloria got the notice that it was time for the graduation ceremony, so she donned her graduation robes and headed over to the University's Annex. Just like when she graduated from high school, she went into the rabbithole, you hear graduation music, then after a while she came out with her degree in her inventory.

From the player standpoint I'm happy to see that everything works and will have Aeronwen and Neldor enroll at AIU when I return from Yellowstone.
From a character standpoint, Gloria has a huge reason to be pissed with just about everyone in her life. She invited her whole family and her childhood friend, all of whom said that they would come to the graduation.
Her brother and sister didn't show. They are the only ones who have a valid excuse since they were in school.
Her father didn't show. He was out riding one of his horses at the horse ranch.
I thought her mother was going to show, for Gwen came to the campus and headed for the Annex. It turns out that she was there for a Gardening class.
Her grandparents didn't show. Grandma was at the coffee house chatting with someone on her laptop. I don't know where Grandpa was. Probably somewhere taking another ride on the Town Bike.
James didn't show. He was playing pool at the tavern. Perhaps that's just as well. He has obviously gone a long time without taking a bath and was giving off green stink fumes.
You know who did show? Yes, Cody her loyal farmhand and friend. He had been at one of the Supernatural hangouts socializing with other werewolves when he dropped everything, jumped on his motorcycle and went to the university.
When Gloria came out of the rabbithole she did an animation where she proudly held up her degree and tossed it into the air as she cheered. While it was a cute animation it was also sad because none of her relatives saw fit to attend the ceremony.
At least one true friend was there to congratulate her.

I know these people are made of pixels, but right now I feel like having Gloria throw an elixir of Angry Bees at everyone who blew off her big day. It's no wonder she's a Loner.
After the ceremony they went to the Bistro (which Gloria owns) for a celebration dinner. As they rode through town in her donkey-drawn cart I could image Gloria holding her hand up and giving the middle finger just in case any of her family or James is out there to see. No that's not ladylike, but as I said, she has a good reason to be pissed.

Yes, it should have taken place later in the day or early evening.
It also seems like a random thing in regards to sims keeping their word. Not long ago I saw a post on Reddit where a player said that her main sim managed to make friends with the Grim Reaper when she was a child. Later on when graduating from high school and from the university she was surprised to see that the Reaper came to both ceremonies. So here we have the Reaper thinking enough of his friend to attend both graduations.
And then at the other extreme we have Gloria's family who blew off the whole thing.

Sims is strange like that. I've seen posts where the sims wouldn't sit down for weddings even when the right chairs are provided. That Grim Reaper story, though, wow.

I could tell that the writer was blown away that such a character would come out of wherever he hides just to attend her character's graduations.
