Rebuilding New Ascadia
Jan. 6th, 2024 01:17 pmFor reasons mentioned in the previous entry, I loaded up the vanilla copy of Dragon Valley and began creating New Ascadia from scratch, starting with making it pet/horse friendly. This involves adding hitching posts and water troughs all over town, adding a dog park, equestrian center, and horse training grounds. And of course I added businesses such as the Fiddler's Green, the Rags to Riches Consignment Shop, working fair grounds, and the supply shop for nectar making.
I also gave each of the Clever Prank households bigger houses that have multiple bedrooms and went ahead and decorated some of the rooms to be ready for children. Now that I have a better understanding of how to adjust the NRaas Story Progression mod's settings for the town, for specific households, and specific Sims, I feel more comfortable letting the Clever Prank households that I'm not actively playing do as they wish and let their lives progress. Making sure my Elder Scrolls households don't turn into swingers isn't quite as difficult as I originally thought.
The settings for the households that are already a part of the world will be left alone. The Dagoth household will also be left alone and permitted to get caught up in the NRaas mod scenarios. The Clever Prank households will of course have settings adjusted so that no one cheats or decides to move out on their own.
Many of the NPCs will receive makeovers since I have downloaded much nicer hairs and additional face sliders, but I'll use the NRaas Master Controller mod to do that in game as I see them rather than trying to change them before starting the game. So those who have really bright blue or green hair or odd colored skin will be adjust to look more Altmer/Dunmer/Bosmer-like.
So, with the town now pet friendly and with the additional parks and businesses I wanted, the next step is to add the custom households, starting with DeVille and Dagoth since those households will both be given 100% free reign to do as they wish. Yes, Cruella and Shadaar are married, but they aren't head over heels in love, so that's one couple that I don't have an issue with if they cheat or if one moves out.
Next will be the Clever Prank households. Along with being romantically locked down to their spouses, I'll turn off the "auto find jobs" option on Thorinor, Brolmir, and Basnik since Neldor will be getting the band together with them as soon as he is placed in the world. Sarasvati, Vendyne, and Alandis will be free to choose whatever career they want (without fail Sarasvati has chosen the theater in previous games).
Then we get to the amusing part; seeing who the game assigns as Town Tart, Loon, Gigolo, Kingpin, Robin (Hood), Cat Burglar, Vigilant, and the other roles that the NRaas mods assigns.
Like sands through the hourglass...so are the...

Edited to add: Just as I thought, the two buckskin horses look amazing together. Saravati got up on the original buckskin the moment she and her household loaded into the world.
