I primarily write about what my First String Fellowship is doing, but the Second String Fellowship is also questing in Enedwaith right now. My warden Caladwyn is quite fond of her new mount, the Prized Gray Company Steed, which uses the same model as the Steed of the Dusk Watch, and the Prized Esteldin Horse (which is Glorawenn's favorite horse).

To be honest I wish more LOTRO steeds were like the Esteldin/Dusk Watch/Gray Company horse with just a basic saddle, saddle packs, saddle pad, and not much covering the horse's head other than the bridle. I like being able to see the actual horse and not have it entirely covered with garish trappings. The only thing I would change about this particular horse model is I would have the mane hanging down loose rather than in a tight braid.

Calicia, who has been questing in Enedwaith with Glorawenn and Andranel, recently completed all of the deeds for that area, including the "Little Wonders" deed. She now proudly wears the "Little Wonder" title.

To celebrate, she went to the skirmish camp in Enedwaith and bartered for a new outfit; the chest and leggings from the Dunlammed set. She almost bought the hat, but decided to stick with the one that she's been wearing since she helped the small town of Archet fight off a gang of brigands.Read more... )

I created some LOTRO fan art, starring Andranel my Lore Master. I gave him the hair I wish the characters could have in the game.

Although I wasn't going to bother, I decided at almost the last minute to get the Steed of Ethuil, which is last year's LOTRO spring festival steed. It's a bit too festive for normal adventuring, but perfect for attending concerts and festivals.

Although it's not a palomino, I think the Prized Algraig Steed works well with Glorawenn.

At the moment Glorawenn's off-hand weapon is a dagger that is enchanted to give off a blue glow when she's near orc-kind. Shortly after getting this horse, she happened to ride past an area where half-orcs were lurking and the steed's white mane began to glow blue. It took a few minutes for me to remember the enchantment on the dagger and realized that the horse's mane was reflecting the dagger's enchantment. So for a moment I wondered, "why is this horse's mane turning blue?"

Now this is a crown of antlers.

And speaking of antlers, we're getting deer cosmetic pets in the near future. One is normal sienna colored doe, the other is a white stag (which of course is my trademark for my line of artwork). With this update LOTRO will be giving me everything I've wanted in a game. It looks like my crying and begging to the developers to give us deer has paid off. ;)

Being a person who likes snow and cold weather, I quite liked this zone.

My characters were heading out to hunt shadow wolves and saw this.

This screen has been uploaded to my new TinyPic account. The site isn't bad, but I'm not going to upload my images from Live Journal there just yet. There's a lot to transfer and I don't want to do it any more times than I have to. I'd prefer to have those images uploaded here if at all possible.

At least the TinyPic account will work for new images. And perhaps I'll end up liking it enough to make it my primary image hosting service.

Now that it's known that the license for LOTRO has been renewed and that the game is not about to be shut down, I've created a third group of characters to multi-box. I'll be referring to them as "the Third String". They are Halasinda (a warden), Rodmond (a hunter), and Wilena (a minstrel).

ThirdString

Class-wise they are identical to my Second String but consist entirely of hobbits.

I mentally roleplay them as cousins who got a taste for adventure after they were briefly kidnapped by brigands (Strider once again saved the day. I wonder if he gets tired of rescuing kidnapped humans and hobbits). They just finished earning tokens (and LOTRO points) at Frostbluff and are now ready to start some serious adventuring.

The pony version of the 2016 Yule festival steed is adorable. My minstrel Calcia (and her hunter twin sister Credella) are very happy with it.

LOTRO's 2016 Yule Festival started yesterday, and Glorawenn promptly headed for Frostbluff to get the new steed. She's currently working to get the warsteed cosmetics in case I ever manage to get her to a high enough level to get a warsteed (I started playing LOTRO two years ago this week and I'm still no there yet).

Glorawenn and Andranel had a great time at this year's Winterfest on Crickhollow. Many thanks to the Second Breakfast kindred and the bands who came out this weekend to share their music with us.

Now that we're in the holiday season, it's time for Glorawenn to saddle her Steed of Winter Winds.

Yesterday my fellowship managed to achieve Kindred status with the Malladhrim (a faction of Lothlorien Elves who have ventured into Mirkwood). The faction offers two mounts which can be bartered for. Being a hunter who likes to keep to the shadows when tracking the enemy, Glorawenn chose the Smokey Black Steed.

Andranel went with the other mount which I will share screens of in the next entry. Glorawenn, Andranel, and Calcia also all received the Elf Ambassador's Horse which is a reward for reaching Kindred with all three of the elven factions (Elves of Rivendell, Galadhrim (Lothlorien), and Malladhrim (Mirkwood). Screens of this meta-deed mount will also be shared in a future entry.

For now, here are screens of Glorawenn's new smokey black steed. I know the lighting isn't great in these shots, but Mirkwood is a dark forest unlike the Golden Wood of Lothlorien.

As my fellowship of characters moves deeper into Mirkwood, they have upgraded their cosmetic armor to help them blend better with their surroundings. Hopefully the orcs, wargs, and goblins which have infested the forest won't see them coming.

As I mentioned in my old blog at Live Journal, I often multi-box when playing LOTRO. I created enough characters on my three accounts to cover each of the game's crafting skills, but I only seriously play six of them in groups of three. I tend to refer to these groups of characters as "First String" and "Second String". Although I've mentioned these characters and have shared screenshots, I've never gotten around to introducing them and sharing their back-stories. Therefore this entry will talk about the three characters in the First String. I'll introduce the three characters which make up the Second String in a future entry. Read more )

One of the many things I love about LOTRO is the ability to customize your character's appearance. Your character can wear his or hers mismatched armor with valuable stats, yet still look good with a vast selection of appearance/cosmetic armor.

There are quite a few LOTRO clothing blogs out there that give excellent suggestions for putting outfits together, one of which is The LOTRO Stylist. A few months ago I read her entry about how she created an outfit that was based on the costume worn my Tauriel in the Hobbit movies. Since my main character Glorawenn is a Mirkwood elf, I decided to create this outfit on her using the LOTRO stylist's suggestions.
