This is what friends are for.
Since Gloria couldn't find a Cure Elixir anywhere, she spent every free moment she had studying alchemy until she learned how to make it herself. At that point her garden had produced the needed herb. She made six bottles since it won't hurt to have such an elixir on hand.
With the elixir made it was time to find James. There was a simfest happening at the performance park and he was there watching the show. While I hate to agree with Cody, James seemed to be enjoying his life as a toad.
After arriving at the park, Gloria made her way through the other sims who were watching the show and threw a Cure Elixir at Toad-James who seemed quite alarmed by this.
And at that moment James was once again the person whom Gloria has been best friends with since their first day of grade school. Grateful to be human again, he gave Gloria a hug.
By the way, James, considering the flies you've eaten, don't even attempt to kiss Gloria until you've brushed your teeth and used an antibacterial mouthwash.
