crown_of_antlers: (Sim Aeronwen)

Before I get into the subject of the entry I just wanted to mention that I was already not in the best of moods when the TES save died. For the past week I've had a brutal spring flu and was only able to see a doctor yesterday. I've started a round of antibiotics, but they take a while to work, so I'm going to have to endure this exhausting, brutal deep cough for a while longer.

Anyway...

I had been playing in Pelagiad yesterday and was about to end the game session. While in the process of saving a message came up that there had been an error. The save is now corrupted and can't even be loaded.

Well bummer...

At least with Sims 3, especially if one is using the NRaas mods, it's not too difficult to cobble the world back together and get everything back to where it was in the now dead save. I loaded a backup which is unfortunately a few weeks back and still in the winter season. Then the real work began.

Using cheats, and the Master Controller, I changed the season to spring, set the characters' skills, job, and relationship levels up to where they were in the dead save. Then I needed to make some changes to the world that had taken place after the date of the backup. This included adding the university and the wedding chapel. I'll have to redo the upper floor which I had made into the bride's room. Yes, that lovely room where I took the bride and bride's maid screenshots is currently gone.

Let's see...then I needed to remake the golden greenhouse. They'll need to plant their garden all over again, but over well.

Things still left to do:

Move Constance from Yanna's house to Sifina's.
Have RiData marry Rabinna and move them into their own house.

I...think...that's about all that needs to be done to make the backup match the dead save. There may be a few other things that need to be updated but those are minor details. While I'm not happy about using the Master Controller to raise the skill levels, I keep telling myself not to think of it as cheating since the characters did raise their skills legitimately in the save that just died.

In a weird way I find this sort of amusing because there had been a plot money in my head that involved Godonir demanding that Sifina change the Story to make a certain female more receptive to him. Sifina of course refused, stating firmly that Stories can't just be changed on a whim, there are too many far reaching repercussions...such as the whole world falling apart and then it can be a real bitch to put everything back together.

Godonir points out that Sifina is not the only Spinner in the world, or even in Morrowind, and some Spinners are either insane or out of it enough to be manipulated and he can easily pay a visit to such a Spinner. And so the story goes. Hence the reason the copy...errr...Story...everyone has been living in just broke. With a heavy sigh, Sifina has started the process of gently and carefully putting everything back together.

Residents have been told not to be alarmed if things seems a bit...off...for a little while. Hang in there and life will start feeling normal again.

Edited to add: Constance has now been moved to Sifina's home. I had to chuckle when I saw her out learning how to ride on Sable, one of Sifina's gentle donkeys.
